Sustainability

Alba has long been committed to innovation in terms of eco-compatibility and recyclability to ensure an eco-sustainable future.

It is proven that most consumers prefer eco-friendly products. In fact, environmentally friendly packaging helps to improve the perception of the product and make it more attractive to the attentive consumer. Consequently, the use of a more sustainable and innovative packaging plays a fundamental role in the conscious choice of the customer and in his environmental contribution.

With a view to the sustainable development of packaging, different media can be used according to packaging needs:

Recyclable monomaterial laminates, also thanks to the use of high-performance products such as barrier polypropylenes to replace aluminum for the most demanding applications (ALUFREE)

Plastics with a content of regenerated material, suitable for NO FOOD packaging

100% POLYMER-FREE COLD & HOT SEAL PAPER

The future of green flexible packaging

The development of packaging and films with no polymers of any kind, according to the green cyrcular economy, has led to the development of paper films with hot and cold sealable glues. The aim was to obtain packaging films without sealing polymers, as in the case of classic poly-coated paper.

This packaging allows many dry products to find a valid substitute for canonical plastic films, as well as being used on normal flow-packs.

PLA or polylactic acid is made from dextrose (sugar) extracted from biobased materials. PLA can be best compared with PET or PP and can be converted on the same lines. This material can biodegrade under certain conditios and for this reason it had biocompostable certificate EN12342. Standard PLA film are transparent and have high gloss.

Mater-Bi is a modern material that is part of the bioplastic family composed of vegetable substances and biodegradable polymers obtained from both raw materials of renewable origin and raw materials of fossil origin. In relation to its charachteristics, Mater-Bi can be compared to polyethylene, though it is an opaque and not transparent material. This film is also biodegradable and compostable, and it guarantees a minor environmental impact.
